A Deep Sadness for Our Beautiful Country

I am so sick of this country's administration. Every day this administration shows just how corrupt it is, yet every day it is allowed to continue. There are people in powerful places who can make it stop, but they're not. Absolutely sickening. I feel such a deep sadness over what is currently happening to our beautiful country.

Last year at this time, with it being my birthday this week, I received a text from a sibling wishing me a happy birthday. My reply was thank you. The next text asked if I had retired yet. I said no, and with this clown show of an administration I might not ever be able to because the world was going to implode. After that, crickets. Which told me my sibling voted for this incredibly corrupt administration. 

Not long after that text conversation, I received a text from another sibling. It was a GIF of the clown himself dancing, with happy birthday below. My response was fuck that clown. The ensuing texting conversation showed me another sibling buying into all the lies this asshat spews nonstop. This sibling even had the temerity to say Biden was a pedophile. Seriously. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that one. I think we all know who the pedophile is in this equation, and it ain't Biden. This sibling ranted about the usual talking points -- inflation under Biden was terrible (yeah, it's called a pandemic and by the time he left office it had come down significantly), unemployment was terrible (wrong, it was actually pretty good), the cost of goods was high (again, it was the pandemic and Biden went to work to bring costs down), and the typical attack on transgender individuals (though I'm fairly certain this sibling has never encountered an transgender individual). Blah, blah, blah. I'm sure, too, that my sibling, even with all the evidence set before them, would continue to support the POS that is currently ransacking this country.

I haven't spoken to either of these siblings since. 

I don't know or understand how a person can so willingly believe the lies of someone who is a felon many times over, who is an adjudicated sexual abuser, who is in the Epstein files tens of thousands of times, and who instigated an insurrection when he lost the 2020 election (and no, the election wasn't stolen). He is an absolute terrible human being with no moral compass, yet so many, including my siblings, think he's great. If he is their idea of what a great human being is, I want nothing to do with them, even if they are my siblings.

The Orange trail Spring was really trying to push Winter off center stage the last few weeks, and in doing so, the spring fever kicked in something fierce. I'd already been having a tough time sitting down in front of the computer to complete work, and the sunny, warmer days were not helping one teeny-tiny bit. Taking My Health Into My Own Hands (Cuz My Doc Certainly Isn't All That Helpful)

After a month of tracking my glucose levels, I've learned a few things, the most important being I need to have something sweet in the evenings. An orange. A fruit smoothie. A vegan chocolate chip cookie. When I don't, my glucose dips with each consecutive morning after not having something sweet, the monitor showing my glucose going lower and lower. While I never went below 79, I was inching lower each morning after not having something sweet the evening before. So now, I make sure I have fruit or a smoothie with dinner. Every now and then I'll have an orange juice mid-day just because. While I don't think a month is long enough to really know if my glucose levels were the culprit for the tachycardia, I have felt so much better. The weird feeling I'd been experiencing when the tachycardia was happening has not happened. The waves of heat that would wash over me, causing me to peel off my sweatshirt or sweater even though my house is at 65 degrees haven't happen...

Looking Forward to 2024

2023 was okay. I really have nothing to complain about regarding life in general throughout 2023.  Well . . . then again . . . that's not entirely true. Mostly true, but there was that one thing . . .. The thing that happened on April 1st. Of all days, it had to happen on this day. This was the day I drove myself to the ER that's 40 minutes away, after standing up from my recliner and feeling my heart take off. It was like I had just run the 100 meter dash, giving my all to cross that finish line first. Only I didn't run the 100 meter dash. I merely stood up from my recliner. I was on my way to take a shower, so I continued to do so, hoping my heart would slow down and go back to my usual 70ish heart rate. In the shower, my heart just kept on, and the more it didn't slow down, the more scared I became. So I finished the shower, got dressed, and drove myself to the ER. That drive was surreal.
