Dining Room Makeover
Hello June! You've graced us with a beautiful day.
My garden is coming to life, with lettuce, spinach, peas and herbs coming in nicely. I still need to get some flowers in, like cosmos and zinnias. It seems so late at this point, but I'm going to get some seeds planted and let nature take its course. I've always started seeds in the greenhouse in March, but this year that didn't happen. If nothing else, it'll be interesting to see how the flowers do without the headstart.
The herniated disc seems to be healing, slowly but surely. At this point, the only part of my leg that is still not back to normal is the area right below the knee. It's just a small spot. It's numb and at times feels like sandpaper is scraping across it. Other times there are pin prick sensations. It's all very strange. Yesterday my knee was very sore and twinging with pain most of the day. Today, the soreness and pain are gone. I'm wondering if this is happening as the herniation heals and the nerves are adjusting back to where they should be.
Thankfully I'm sleeping much better. I bought a big body pillow to use to prop my leg on. I also bought a satiny sheets set that allows me to move easily when I want to switch what side I'm sleeping on. These sheets are made from bamboo, and honestly, they are worth every penny I spent. Love them. Between the body pillow and the sheets, I've been able to sleep so much better.
Now I'm on a mission to redo my dining room. I was tired of the table and chairs, so I listed them in a free to good home group. A young man came by that same day and loaded the table and chairs into his truck and took them away. I found a lovely farmhouse style table and two green wheat-back chairs to start the dining room makeover. I'm kinda going for an English cottage dining room look, so I'm searching for a few more chairs that don't match. I'm also thinking about applying a pretty floral wallpaper to the bottom part of the walls. There's a plate rail that goes all the way around the dining room, so the wallpaper would go from the baseboard up the plate rail. I also changed out the ceiling light. I found a beautiful chandelier and installed it. The difference it makes in the space is amazing. It's absolutely beautiful.

Along with the new table, chairs, and chandelier, I took down the blue drapes and replaced them with the creamy lace curtains I picked up at the thrift store several years ago, the spring I decided to leave my marriage and start over. Those curtains were one of the first things I bought for my bedroom windows. I loved them so much then, and I love them every bit as much now. They remind me of how much strength and courage I needed at the time I found them.
This is the first project of several I'd like to complete throughout the summer. I've gotten a good start, and the summer is just beginning.
